by Lois Lindauer ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 25, 1978
Combining a balanced diet with nutritional guidance, exercises, and behavior modification techniques, the Diet Workshop Success Diet includes the standard information of similar books, its own adapted recipes, and a large enemies list--butter, chocolate, mayonnaise, etc. The recipes include lasagna without pasta (an adaptation that makes the most of other flavors) and familiar foods with key substitutes: yogurt or cottage cheese for sour cream or mayonnaise, artificial sweeteners for sugar. The text is reassuring and chirpy (""how to handle the happies"") and all the cited dieters are women except for one lucky fellow whose enterprising wife, bless her heart, cut his calories without spilling the beans. Another modest contender in the ongoing sweepstakes.
