by Lulu--Ed. & Illus. DeLacre ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 1, 1989
Twelve traditional children's rhymes and songs, in Spanish and English, from Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Argentina. Though the format indicates that this is aimed at the preschool child, it could also be used through the primary grades. Music is included (at the back): the accompanying actions, games, or origins of the rhymes are noted where appropriate, while an ""Artist's Note"" describes the background of the material. There is even a recipe for arroz con leche. The soft watercolors, while not outstanding, are festive and pleasant, with a sweet, old-fashioned appeal. Recommended for any collection needing good-quality bilingual material.
