JUDY JO'S MAGIC ISLAND

The Judy Jo stories find their market among third and fourth grade readers who like the everyday adventures of a generation ago -- a might-be-true quality. This new book takes Judy Jo through an exuberant summer at Ducklight Cove near Boston. A period setting- around 1910- backgrounds adventures that include a trip to Louisa May Alcott's home in Concord, the saving of a young neighbor's life, hunting sea shells, and, climactically, finding a new set of cousins virtually in her own back yard. Gay, effervescent -- but today's moderns may find it a bit on the milk toast side.
