MY DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN

Company man, Vance Vance (sic) is again assigned a cleanup spot when he is transferred to another plant by the ""Holy City"" (headquarters) to make a money-making operation out of what has been a losing proposition. Leaving his six year old crippled child behind (Vance is divorced) he goes to Magness where he institutes a crash program all along the line, gets rid of the man in charge long enough to investigate aspects of indifference and inefficiency, and blackjacks the plant personnel into all kinds of reforms. His one-man offensive is successful, to a point, for he learns at the close that he's a ""lousy team man"" and is fired not the results he has achieved, but the intractable techniques he has used.... The book- like Vance- is ex-hauntingly aggressive and also like Vance, has very little use for personal relationships. It is strictly a man's book, and handles its intramural scenes and statistics of life within a big industrial plant with a certain brass-knuckled authority.
