A Man Named Luke was somewhat abstruse, but the tenuous thread of the doctor's character held the story together. Now comes another novel from her pen, and the story seems to fall apart, to leave the reader with a sense of puzzlement, uncertainty as to what actually happened, and what was projected into the future, or drawn up out of the past. The background is a convalescent home -- the atmosphere is clouded by overhanging insanity, illness, death, wretchedness, uncertainty. Esoteric, semi-mystical telescoping of time. Don't sell to the average customer.
