THE DARK STAR

A novel with distinction of theme and writing, and again -- as in A Man Named Luke -- the concern is with aspects beyond the usual conception. The setting is the theatre, and there is a suggestion of the Svengali motif in the relations of Eden Loring, actor-producer, and the actress he has built to stardom. The basic theme of predestined love is well interwoven in a story of the stage world. At times overlong, at times too erudite, it is none the less interesting and unusual.
