This very personal narrative of the experiences of a woman minister in rural Maine makes most interesting reading. Suddenly left a widow, Mrs. was forced to make a career and a living for herself. She had had considerable experience in religious and social work, but no theological training. Nevertheless when a friend in the Methodist church offered her the opportunity to serve a little rural parish near Ellsworth she jumped at the chance. She proved to be adept in handling the very reserved and not too religious country people and from one church her responsibility was gradually extended until she ministered to seven different churches. The book is replete with accounts of her contacts with individuals and their problems. A very moving human document, proving that practical as rife in the country as in the city and that some of the most magnificent Christian work being done in this country is performed by ministers serving little p unhonored and unsung.
