What starts as a pleasant Christmas holiday turns out to be a much more involved adventure than originally planned, when three children are left stranded in their vacation cottage in Western England during a severe storm, their parents unable to reach them. How Lincoln Ridley and his 15 and 10 year old younger sisters, Miranda and Pinks, manage to cope with the predicament is the substance of the story. Although the plot is simple, the characters are realistically portrayed and the situation is completely reasonable. Readers will be sympathetic toward the bedraggled threesome, and will enjoy the descriptions of Christmas in England.
