Miss Bianca is the Perpetual Madam President of the Mouse Prisoners' Aid Society--she lives in the Embassy, writes poetry, likes Mozart, and gives awards, Tybalt stars, to those who have shown courage against cats. (It takes courage of a sort to read this kind of book. For a while we thought it was a bunny book, a house term here for Genus Juvenalis, but no, it is a mouse book, for grown ups.) She sees the message that Teddy, a child, is a prisoner in the salt mines and she recruits a rescue party, two Professors and her henchmouse, Bernard, and they go through a cave to an island and find him and give him mittens and a gold coin for his railway fare, and.... An indigent little whimsy and a triumph of anthropomorphism.
