by Marilyn & George Gould ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 25, 1977
With a firm, kindly guiding hand, the Goulds lead us through simple plans for building a skateboard and two similar offshoots: the vintage scooterboard and a modified scooter with a foot-high seat. The babyish beginning--cautioning readers to ""hammer away from your fingers"" and ""be sure your work will not get stepped on""-evolves into a less condescending discussion of building materials, and stepby-step instructions illustrated by precise schematic drawings. The remainder, comprising riding lessons, maintenance tips, and safety advice, is a less comprehensive version of information in Weir's Skateboards and Skateboarding (p. 357, J-93). Still, this is handy in the workshop and a boon to jaded sidewalk surfers looking for new wheels.
