SECRET OF AVALON

It takes place in ancient Briton-- Alan's discovery that his parentage is unknown means the end of his plans to go into Druid training, but points him on some adventures. He saves the Princess Dorigen from being sacrificed (the escape comes before the Druid rite runs into much of a frenzy, and that is typical of the story-- excitement is spoken of but never really portrayed). He assists King Ivor and his head Druid Ruaden, who have gone to help protect Briton from Caligula's threatened invasion, and tells them of the dangers at home. And, of course, with the help of some old jewelry he manages to discover his own history. The story runs off into too many tangents, is overburdened with characters of only passing significance, and is not likely to generate much feeling.
