THE BOY WHO PAINTED WALLPAPER

It's clear from the start of this offbeat, offhand doodle that Rubin is as wiggy a talent as his hero, a little boy who is contentedly consumed with his ""strange hobby"" of painting wallpaper. When a big manufacturer happens along and makes him rich and famous, the little boy's troubles begin, but he finally manages to elude the ubiquitous reporters, TV crews and fashionable customers by hiding in his own creation -- a wallpapered room painted with hundreds of little boys (in his own image) painting wallpaper. A kid can do worse than get lost in his hobby (or his work), and look at the fun that Rubin has with all that zappy colored wallpaper and black and white wobbly line sketches of the boy and his mod world.
