OF GUILT AND HOPE

This book is of significance because of its author, not because of its contents. As a matter of fact, it is a slight volume, both in size and in the nature of its contents. There is, first of all, a sermon in which the guilt of the German people is acknowledged and the basis of their hope for the future outlined. Then, there is a letter to his brother outlining the ecclesiastical situation in Germany as Niemoller saw it. There is a short Christmas sermon and finally a report of an interview with Niemoller as given by an American Army Chaplain. That is all -- price $2.00! But such has been the furor created by Niemoller's recent visit to the United States that many will wish to read his every message, even if they are not very profound and would be of little importance if they came from any other Christian leader.
