AMY SAID

Two preschoolers get into horrendous but perfectly realistic mischief, including swinging on Gran's curtains, drawing on the walls, and picking all Gran's flowers--until Gran (whose patience is more than exemplary) finally says, ""NO MORE! Please,"" and the kids go peacefully to bed. Voake sketches the miscreants with a delicate innocence that comically belies their antics--a gentle reminder that little children, however naughty, are indeed innocent at heart. Less irrepressible children will regard the many pranks with delighted disapproval, glorying in their own rectitude. A funny and (one hopes) effective lesson by negative example.
