YOUR ACHING BACK

Dr. Shuman is an osteopath, and he is very explicit here about that is known about the most common complaint of all- backache, what it may be caused by and what may help. He is also very definite- contraindicating traction, strapping, disk operations, diathermy and casts- and recommending some of the less well known improvements, curare and joint sclerotherapy (an injection which promotes the growth of scar tissue) as well as manipulation. Whether it's what used to be called lumbago, and now is more fashionably a disc, or the ""low back diagnostic catchall""- your sacroiliac, and for many other general back conditions these therapies are highly successful. Some general precautionary words on clothes, diet, exercise, beds, etc. will benefit everyone, certainly in the middle years when back troubles become manifest although structural conditions may have obtained for far longer.... Direct, firm and convincing.
