HERE COMES THE TROLLEY CAR

Mary Chalmers' second picture book (see Come for a Walk with Me) has the same miniscule charm of the other as it makes magic of the mundane -- this time a typical morning streetcar trip into town. Different kinds of people board the car; the mission of each one is evident,- scallion selling, movie going, etc. and these are carefully explained as a three or four year old would demand. When the streetcar breaks down they join forces in a nice picnic. Tiny pencil sketches are in perfect and humorous detail. Fair stitching.
