by Mary F. Windeatt ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
The author has produced another volume in the Vision series geared to the young reader. The present biographical volume grows out of two earlier published studies of St. Benedict, the founder of the world-wide order of monks (and affiliated nuns) that bears his name. Miss Windeatt has had full access to the archives of the Benedictines of St. Meinrad's, the archabbey in Indiana which was the order's first foundation in the United States. Her final chapter describes briefly the work of the monks since the life-time of the founder, with special attention to the principal American communities. Throughout, her language is simple and attractive and the chapter-heads are pleasantly illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings.
