Hilarious surprises continue in this second addition to the madcap doings of that new, happily welcome literary family, the Persevers. Once again the housekeeper Mrs. Coverlet, is called away, this time to be a finalist in the White Blizzard Flour bake-off contest. With high-strung Miss Eva in charge, Malcolm, Eva and little Toad look forward to dull days, until Toad reaches his do-it-yourself magic kit advertised in a horror comic, and begins secretly practicing his voodoo. The results? Miss Eva lands in bed for several weeks, (not really sick mind you), the children find the perfect Christmas tree and snow falls in snow-less Loganbury on Christmas morning! Plausible explanations can be found for everything but Toad is a firm believer in his power. The six Persever cats make entrances along with their marvelously funny escapades and situations. Witty dialogue and droll illustrations round out a truly delectable comedy.
