THE SWIMMING POOL

That old black magic of elegance and entertainment for the past glories of the Maynard family which bring their violence today. Judith, wealthily and wisely, wed to Ridge Chandler, returns to The Birches after her divorce, becomes a recluse dominated by fear; her sister Lois and brother Phil take a dim view of her withdrawal and demands until an unknown woman is found dead in the swimming pool. Terrence O Brien, ex-homicide and the Maynards' tenant, works fast but keeps his mouth shut while Lois has her shuttings between Judith's psychiatrist and O'Brien's clue-chasing to keep her in trouble. A complicated unknotting and unravelling provide a satisfactory Q.E.D. MRR and no age-withering or staling.
