LONG STRETCH AT FIRST BASE

Young Bobby Jamison is determined that his older brother, Kirby, be chosen for the Grasshopper League All-Star team. So blinded is he by sibling loyalty that he refuses to acknowledge the fact that his brother's rival is better equipped for the post. Kirby and Bobby learn a good deal about baseball, but more, still, about integrity in this simply written but engrossing story of a game and its ardent young fans. A wholesome depiction of a healthy family, their problems, and their development, light but consistently sensible.
