by Matt Christopher ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 21, 1977
A mysterious coach and a string of come-from-behind baseball games are Christopher's prime ingredients here. Kim Rollins can't figure out why coach Gorman Stag has organized a Bantam League team of inexperienced players if winning the championship is so important to him. But Kim's detective work reveals the Steelheads are all the sons and daughters of players from a team of 20 years before. And a post-championship celebration unmasks Coach Stag as the weak-eyed, nonplaying manager of the old team out to prove himself a winning ball player. The mystery is laid on a bit thickly, yet it does add some off-the-field suspense to Christopher's typical sports heroics.
