THE CIRCUS BABY

The Petershams' latest is an engaging piece about a circus elephant with delightful full-color illustrations. Mother elephant was very proud of her baby, and wanted her baby to do the things her friends, the circus clowns did. But when Mother Elephant tried to teach her baby to sit up at the table and eat with a spoon everything went wrong -- but after all, Mother Elephant decided ""he was an elephant"" and should eat his own way. The pictures of Mother Elephant with her placid, kindly face and Baby, looking sleepy and helpless, are splendid.
