A rainy day and the sniffles grant little Steve the right of spending a school-free day in his city apartment. At first he is delighted, but soon he becomes somewhat bored and lonely and out of his boredom comes trouble. Not very serious trouble, but the annoying kind which makes ""Ma"" nervous and ""Dad"" cross. And the hiding of his mother's watch which starts as a game leads to a crisis when Steve cannot remember where he hid it. There are a few bad hours for Steve, but as in any family where there is real affection, the crisis resolves itself and it is once more a happy, busy household. A thoroughly recognizable situation, built around a very real little boy. A book with which the young reader will easily identify.
