DEEP IN A HAYSTACK

A small book for small hands to hit the hay with. It's all about a puppy who dreams big. There is a line of text to a page and Spilka 'd-ink swirled illustrations of the whale, kangaroo, octopus, horse, etc., that the puppy dreamed he had become until he awakened and staggered out of his haystack still an appealing, shaggy dog. Same size, same quality, same market as the illustrator's Little Birds Don't Cry--that's the market that staggers deep into bookstores (where the children's books usually are) waving a dollar and asking what it will buy.
