Another farewell appearance (Mel Torme -- The Other Side of the Rainbow) of the girl ""who sang so that it would break your heart"" (James Mason) and extorted ""shock waves of love"" (the author? Ann Pinchot?) from the audience whose ""mass love"" (that's Judy) never substituted for the ""individual love"" Mickey Deans was able to give her in the last couple of years of her unhappy life. He married her secretly in England in 1969 -- her fifth husband -- but somehow never managed to keep her for very long off the amphetamines and barbiturates which ravaged her along with all those tears and fears. Deans' book tells about twice as much as Torme's for what it's worth about the girl who ""crept into the world's heart"" and zing went those strings. . . .
