BECKY AND HER BRAVE CAT, BLUEGRASS

Becky, the youngest daughter of Daniel Boone, is with her cat, the heroine of this story which takes the Boones from North Carolina to Kentucky. The first difficult years in their new home are climaxed by Daniel's disappearance and the belief of his family that he has been killed by Indians. And it is Bluegrass who refuses to leave Kentucky on the eve of Daniel Boone's Miraculous return to his family and is indirectly responsible for Becky being there to welcome her heroic father. In this story Boone emerges as a real and likeable figure surrounded by a family which will seem both familiar and charming to the reader. A delightful departure from the stereotyped depiction of Boone as a dehumanized titan of the backwoods.
