More of the dear doings in that little Cotswold hamlet, none of which are more potent than a two percent solution of boric acid, but they're enough to upset the villagers, set in their comfortable ways. The old churchyard needs both tending and extending and sexton Albert Piggott grumbles; dotty Dotty Harmer takes to the wheel of a car she shouldn't be driving at all and causes an accident; a new development threatens the small schoolhouse; old Doctor Bailey is dying; etc., etc. Nothing changes much--which is just as well for all Miss Read's readers who like to keep Thrush Green forever. . . .
