WINTER IN THRUSH GREEN

This brings back many who appeared in Thrush Green with the excitements of the Spring arrival of Mrs. and her Fair. Dr. and Mrs. Balley are still lending a helping hand, Dr. Lovell and Futh produce a child; the rector finds a surcease from his life as a ; Mr. learns that Tilling is more agile than he; and there is the newcomer, Harold Shoosmith, whose occupancy of the corner house brings a whole new interest to the Green's inhabitants. Shoosmith's concern with the reputation of Nathaniel Patten, his desire to raise a monument to this local hero, his ability to adjust to the Green's infinitesimal tempests, and his whole acceptance of the local activities and personalities of this Cotswold village make up a placid tale for those who prefer balm to bomb. For the carry on trade, gently conservative. I.S. Goodall's illustrations too continue the tradition.
