The beautiful, self-centered Lady Alice Hollady has been the toast of the town for 14 years--and she hopes no one has been keeping count. The victim of an early marriage to a country gentleman who saved her father from financial ruin, Lady Alice moved to London following her husband's death and began making up for the social life she felt she had been denied. Her calendar is so full that Stiles, her young secretary, is always busy keeping Lady Alice's appointments in order--and trying to keep Lady Alice's secret: Stiles is really Priscilla Hollady, Lady Alice's daughter who had been hidden away at broading school until recently. Monette Cummings, author of Lady Sheila's Groom (1984), has a penchant for disguises. This Cinderella tale has Priscilla dressed up for Lady Alice's party, then banished from the house by her mother. Dashing Sean O'Rourke must scour London to find her, and--of course--he does. It gets difficult to believe that Lady Alice truly appears to be as young as we are told she looks, but otherwise, this is a light, pleasing Regency romance.
