This English mystery-adventure is short on mystery but long on horses, and filled with the gaiety and warmth of energetic young people and their ponies. When Tamzin (12) and her friend Risa (13) hear about the Midnight Horse and the dire results that follow a glimpse of him, they are determined to investigate. With the help of a girl friend and two boys the mystery is solved and a stolen racing horse is returned to his owner. This is a leisurely book, with a sub-plot concerning the rescue of a starved pony from his gypsy owner. There is also a camping trip, school affairs, and of course plenty of riding. For horse lovers, primarily.
