MY LITTLE SISTER

Francie, teen-aged daughter of Mr. Thorne, a florist, and her younger sister Tina, 13, are tugging hard at the parental apron strings as the story opens. Francine tells in a chatty first-person narrative of her meeting with Doug, a wounded veteran whom her father befriends at a local hospital. Doug stands by while Francie tumbles for Mike, another lonely serviceman at the hospital; and Tina allows Doug to take the blame for damage at their greenhouse which she and her date were responsible for. While Doug is rehabilitated through work with Mr. Thorne, Francie throws herself at Mike. Tina's recklessness terminates in a serious automobile accident. And Francie is chastened when Doug informs her that Mike is engaged. Teen-aged girls will probably cheer the inevitable happy ending as Doug and Francie pair off at the finale. Animated telling shores up the predicability of the plot. Standard and adolescent.
