PRESCRIPTION FOR TWO

Unlike her timid brother, Norman, Dorie Royal had always yearned to be a doctor and follow in the footsteps of her grandfather, a noted Texas physician. But it is Norman who is forced into medical studies by his parents who feel that the son of the family must bear the proud Royal tradition. Norman's inability to live up to his family's imposed standards leads him to a point of emotional collapse, while Dorie finds fulfillment in the career of pharmacy. Love plays a benevolent role in the lives of brother and sister in this novel which rests heavily on a psychoanalytical formula and a sense of good story telling.
