Can cheese cut cavities? Why sit backwards in a car? Is daydreaming really a waste of rime? Plus other burning questions, answered in about 300 words or less. Based on the ABC-TV program with Hal Linden, this compendium of teasers covers an impossible range of topics pertaining to personal and family health--along with some aspects of domestic finance. (""Who's the most important person to talk to before buying a new car?"" An insurance agent. ""Is there a way to beat inflation?"" Don't buy, barter.) These tidbits are just enough to pique readers' curiosity; any real help would have to come from the list of resources and organizations in the appendix. But for recreational browsing, or for subjects to start a party conversation, this does just fine. ""Can lab tests lie?"" ""Is marriage healthy?"" "" How do you say no to a door-to-door salesperson?"" And so, tantalizingly, on and on.
