This is the engaging story of the pigeons of Paris, and of one exceptional pigeon, Evangeline. When the police decide that Paris is overpopulated with the roosting birds, they institute a deportation program. Banding each bird, they exile them to the forests of the Dordogne where many birds die and others begin a painful return homeward. Evengeline, a very lovesick and enterprising pigeon, endures many hardships, but finally, is reunited with her mate on a gargoyle of Notre Dame. A human love story is told here in counterpoint to the Evangeline story.
