The author of a Houghton Mifflin Fellowship novel Dildo Cay now gives us his account of being caught in a spring storm with his wife Emmy while sailing off Bermuda. Aboard the Sea Beast they endure high seas, find refuge in Green Cay, and there indulge in some exploration, some reminiscence, and a good deal of small talk. Recollections of youth as the author and wife ramble about boat and beach are given tense relief as they attempt to reach other ships or Bermuda by radio. This is a curious book. In part it is sensitively, descriptively written, especially as it deals with the sea and the situation. In other parts it is dull, petty, and extremely boring. One wonders if this trip---which ends in safety---was really worth recounting in book form at all.
