by Ngaio Marsh ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 10, 1941
She spins a smooth yarn, does Ngaio Marsh. Here's another, with Roderick Alleyn of the Yard brought into the picture half way through, and plenty of build-up at an eccentric houseparty before the actual murder occurs. A bored dilettante decides to turn the scapel to his own edification by bringing, incompatibles together, and he gets more than he bargained for (and so do his guests), when jealousy, suspicion, two-timing, etc. get going and a storm-bound household goes haywire.
