Twin brothers vacationing in the Cairngorm Mountains encounters a black and white oollie whose life is threatened by the sheep raisers in the area. Since Lady, as Don and Ian name her, had guided them down a mountain ridge in a dangerous mist and had led an attacking eagle away from the boys, they refuse to believe her guilty of lamb killing. They feel obliged to prove her innocence and to save her life as well as the lives of her two pups. Mountain climbing and a controlled brush fire lend excitement to the tale which has a definitely British tone to the dialogue. Mr. Tranter has written more than fifty novels for youngsters and adults.
