by Nina Murdoch ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
A delightful book about a beautiful bit of the world, the author has caught the simplicity and freshness of the Tyrol, without tiring the reader with the sort of detail to be found in Baedeker. Personal, fast moving style -- includes facts about history, customs, folk lore, interwoven with anecdotes of peasant life. The section is Innsbruck, the neighboring lakes, Thiersee and the passion play, the salt mines of Hall, the Patschekofl. Not a book for the casual tourist, as it covers so limited a portion, but rather one for the armchair traveller, who is definitely interested in the Austrian Tyrol, and for the visitor who plans to spend a vacation there.
