In the round kingdom of Rondo there is a beautiful princess. There is also a family of dragons, particularly keen on supping on such fair ladies. To the rescue comes the young cowherd, Harold, who dearly loves the princess, but cannot quite bring himself to kill the desperate dragons. Nonetheless he rids Rondo of its menace, through wit rather than brutality, and marries the beautiful princess.
