A short novel of the sea, a boat, the Poosie Nancy, and the four men who were with her when she fought storm and danger catches the drama of the incident tersely and economically. Cut Off from the fishing fleet homing to Scarvaig, Joe goes overboard, Mungo saves him and the propeller is fouled; the canvas for a sail has not been taken aboard; the storm moves in and they are dashed on the rocks of a little island. Mungo again saves Joe, but not in time and the association of Angus, Donald and Mungo is broken up. Graphic seascapes, a husky little seiner, and four characters in contrast make up a story of classic derivation.
