by P. G. Wodehouse ‧ RELEASE DATE: Aug. 1, 1968
The experienced Wodehouse hand can tick off the line-up in this one: yes, there's the garumphy and embarrassingly penetrating aunt, Miss Isobel; the discreet butler, Horace Appleby, who buttles to enhance the efficacy of his burglary ring of talented and agreeable thieves: the distraught young man, Michael; the cool and pleasant Jill who rather fancies Michael, etc. etc. The plot tintinnabulates nonsensically through the English countryside with the admirable speed and intricacy of the nocturnal exploits of Horace's employee, Freddie the Fly, and its flashing twists are impossible to retrack. Suffice it to say that all hands arrive to rob Michael's family bank at the same time; a conscientious gunman plugs Scotland Yard; and every lad has his lassie. . . . More May madness which has weathered all seasons.
