I'M WITH THE BAND: Confessions of a Groupie

Sexually intimate memoir of a queen of the groupies and of the life she lived to the hilt turning on with the kings of rock 'n' roll. Bra-stuffing teen-age virgin Pamela Miller kept a diary of her growing pains as a Beatlemaniac and groper of guitar stars as she grew up in Reseda, California. Her diary entries are just the agonized splattings you'd expect. But Pamela went on to become a knockout success at bedding her idols--and the list is impressive, We first watch her plastered against a storm fence all night long in Beverly Hills, hoping to glimpse the Beatles on their American tour. When she finally does catch John looking at her from his limousine, his glance is so solemn that her bubble bursts and her enthusiasm switches to Mick Jagger. She spends much time with Cynthia Plaster Caster, who makes plaster casts of the rock stars' erections. Meanwhile she is also bedding Jim Morrison, Waylon Jennings, Don Johnson, Jimmy Page, Brandon De Wilde and many others. She was with Mick the night the Hell's Angels murdered a man at the Altamont festival, and actually turned down a night with Elvis a few years before his death. She finally married druggie musician Michael Des Barres, who joined A.A., reformed, and now does good works in drug rehabiliation. Gaining in likability as it goes along, this is a classic account of rampant narcissism among guitar egomaniacs.
