Fairy tale with pointed, adult overtones in the manner of the moderns. Coco and Concha Perez lived in Mexico City. Orphans, they depended on the bounty of kindly Mrs. Gonzales, who had a vegetable stall in the market. It was there the children met an elf and a talking goat who took them to a magic forest in the middle of the wild wood. The curiously peaceful world had difficult laws, of which many talked and few practised. Only the magic folk would give up their own greeds for the general good. A disturbing fairy tale for the five and six year olds; older children will find it enjoyable in somewhat the manner of the Wilde tales.
