Where did you go?"" ""Around the world."" ""What did you do?"" ""Nothing.""...this is the conversation between Patrick and Pegeen when he is trying to think what is happening to their son (gone with Mame for two and a half years) in the light of what happened to him in 1937....(which he does not tell Pegeen.) His trip included Paris and Auntie Mame getting involved in the Folies Bergere revue which paid off in her blackmailing Patrick's trustee; London, in which being presented at Court surrounded Auntie Mame with a cloud of vultures and a noble rescuer; Biarritz, where Auntie Mame, in saving her old friend Vera from a fortune hunter, lost the noble rescuer and tossed the fortune hunter to the Spanish Republicans as fodder; Venice, Austria, the Middle East, Port Said -- and home. These episodes, lingering over the ludicrous and the farcical, take Auntie through many phases -- losing an unwanted southern relative, furthering a Jewish-New England romance, defying Nazism or unmasking a phony missionary -- and add to the clutter (this is a new collective noun) of commemorative fictionalization -- for those who....
