THE AFFAIR OF JOLIE MADAME

Harrigan and Hoeffler, with the Old Man behind them, are again on tap for a caper involving spy activities on the West Coast, and abductions fake and for real. Roald Jarrell, the irreplaceable man on an atomic project coming to completion, pulls a self-snatch at the critical moment. The piece de resistance is mistress Bjirk Bjork, with whom he won't do without: she is trained to follow but gets her patriotic back up when she knows all. H.&H. are mainly busy breaking up the ring and saving Bjirk-- the suspense is low-keyed, geared to safety commingled with expected awe at our agents' cleverness. Passable pleasantry.
