THE BEST BOOK OF ADVENTURE STORIES; THE BEST BOOK OF ANIMAL STORIES; THE BEST BOOK OF DOG STORIES; THE BEST BOOK OF FUN AND NONSENSE; THE BEST BOOK OF HORSE STORIES

The following six titles are a new series of anthologies made up of excerpts from well known books as well as short stories from various magazines. Each collection was selected and edited by Pauline Rush Evans but various illustrators have produced the full color pages and the line drawings. In every case, the books from which the excerpts are taken are identified. Mrs. Evans has chosen well, her lead-in comments to the stories are good reader bait and the six books, singly or together, make solid reading pleasure. The idea of getting a lot for the price of one always helps anthologies during the gift giving seasons and bookstores would do well to emphasize these as a set that can be built up -- gift-by-gift.
