CANYON OF DECISION

...her mother insisted she find out 'who she was.' She knew who she Was--the new Jo Scott."" To prove it, she sneaks out to meet the shallow Sandy, cracks up her car, reaps trauma and a trip to her forest ranger uncle's cabin. Arriving with a ""thin, hard shell of defiant resentment"" Jo (seventeen) finds satisfaction in her domesticity, involvement in a school project to put on a show with the younger kids, true love with ""Brick the hick"" who has conveniently concealed his real identity as a college sophomore. Trite emotions tritely expressed--the pompous title matches the book.
