THE O'DONNELLS

A family story with an Irish-Catholic background is set in the home of the McDonnells and tells of their yearly round of activities in Kansas City. Mr. O'Donnell is a policeman and his five daughters and his wife make up a happy, busy family. Parochial school for Margaret and Ella, almost the same age, has its projects, its rivalries with other pupils and its friendships with the Sisters. Home has its excitements too. There is the time when Mr. O'Donnell tells them of his Irish background and how, as a participant in the struggle for Irish freedom, he was obliged to come to America. There is a new house too, a horse and carriage and the town friendships and experiences that add up to a general well being. A period story of the early 1900's, gently told.
