by P.G. Wodehouse ‧ RELEASE DATE: July 14, 1964
Another unflaggingly amusing farce, in which Wodehouse's gift for instant comedy and caricature is still at its best. This is again that well-remembered world where non sequiturs are not only accepted at face value but cheerfully pursued. Edmund Biffen Christopher, a notorious rake and cop -slugger, stands to inherit ten million if he can stay out of jail for a last week before his 30th birthday. His sister's suitor, an editor of a scandal sheet, attempts to save Biff from himself and remove him from a blonde, Cwendoline. Then there's a publishing magnate, a Fleet Street irregular, Lord Tilbury, who will be cut out of the Biffen will unless Biff can be corrupted. This he attempts through an intermediary, a hollow-legged heavy drinker, Murphy.... And so it goes, in a welcome addition to this writer's repertoire for that happily habituated readership.
