WAY DOWN CELLAR

Marvellous tale in which three boys in a small Connecticut town drive the boy despising, stony hearted Miss Dengler and her colored cook nearly mad when they discover and make interesting use of the secret passage in her historic house. Hilariously funny, and true to small boys and American towns, as Phil Stong always is. The town meeting scene is a classic. Kurt Wiese's drawings are, it goes without saying, perfect for the book.
